Lekeitio is synonymous with a seafaring tradition, fishing culture and a respect for the sea. But it is also proud of its ancestral customs, the friendliness of its people, the culture and history of its streets and squares. Its location has enabled it to keep those characteristics that make it a typical Basque village.
Its streets hide architectural jewels such as the Town Hall, Oxangoiti Palace, Uribarria Palace, the remains of a fifteenth century fire wall that divided the town into two areas, Upaetxea and the San Pedro fisherman’s guild.
In the surrounding areas you will find towns and villages such as Gernika, Berriatua, Ondarroa and Markina, all of which offer rich and diverse culture and nature.
