Land and sea merge in the town of Orio. Our seafaring origins and traditions are everywhere to be seen. Whale hunting and the rivalry with neighbouring towns for this prized catch marked the surrounding hills with flaming pyres used to warn that the animals were near.

Those days are long gone, but the fishing spirit of the people will forever remain in the port and the streets of the old town.

Its proximity to San Sebastian – just ten minutes from the city centre – makes Orio the ideal location from which to enjoy the Concha Beach, the casino or Mount Urgull before returning to the sound of the ocean as your only background noise.
